This is definitely the hardest boss in all of Doom games. You fight it in the open arena almost with no place to hide, but the boss constantly shoots explosive balls that track you down and move faster than you! It's really hard to make them hit an obstacle and explode without damaging you, and they deal a lot of damage! Oh, and there's only one health item during the boss fight (+100 HP megasphere). Last but not least: the final boss (a new enemy) is super unfair. And you fight 2 cyberdemons at once at least a couple times throuought the game.

Arachnotrons also deal significantly more damage and fire two lines of plasma balls instead of one.

Then, since there are no most annoying enemies from Doom 2 in the game (arch viles, chaingunners), Doom 64 compensates that by buffing Lost souls (they deal a lot of damage and are super fast and aggressive) and, consecutively, pain elementals (they also spawn 2 souls at once). Basically, almost every time you grab a key or press a switch, a bunch of demons attack you. And the game tries to spice up backtracking by the cheasiest method available: spawning more enemies. This is fun at first, but the longer you play, the less frustrating it becomes, because looking for a new passage after you press a switch quickly gets old. The levels are small, but very complex and usually have hidden switches that open passages in the other part of the location. However, the game compensates for that, but not always in a good way. The game was originally released on Nintendo 64, and it shows: it has smaller levels and less enemy types than Doom 2 (no revenants, arch viles, chaingunners). Not the best game in the series (actually, I think only Doom 3 is worse), but still fun and provides a different look at the Doom. Well I guess it is the Mother Demon.TL DR. But for a scare fest, Doom 64 sure ain't no damn disney show. I do play it more than Doom 64, finding it to be more addicting. Don't get me wrong, I have to give the origonal its props. I aslo sound the game to be a mite spookier (Read as infinitley mor terrorizing) than the likes of the oringonal. When I see a Hell Knight look ANYTHING like a saturday morning cartoon character, fine. Now that was something that was't in the PC verison. and there were still the mutilated corpses, and as was mentioned, some organs are just casually lying around, and are STILL WORKING. Yeah, what ARE you talking about? I found the mosters in Doom 64 to be MUCH more menacing in appearance than in the PC version. Doom 64 is kind of a disney-ish version of doom.the lost souls look way lamer, the cacos look lamer, the soldiersand imps look lamer, and theres way less blood and mutilatedcorpses
